Milton Becerra is internationally recognized for his sculpture and assemblage. Although he has made Paris his home base since 1980, Becerra has continued to spend time in the Amazon Jungle, to study the cosmology, weaving and knotting techniques of the Amazon’s indigenous cultures. In 2009, after many years of working exclusively with organic materials, Becerra began incorporating nylon thread and fabric in his art. The resulting wall mounted works, on view in the current exhibition, reference both the history of geometric abstraction, and the power of ritual objects. That Becerra’s art is pure assemblage, made without a single drop of paint or glue, makes his achievement all the more remarkable. The exhibition, which includes both site-specific sculpture and installation, has been extended thru December 10th.
